Contrary to popular belief, a mid facelift is not that similar to a regular facelift. The facelift has the disadvantage of not affecting the nasal furrow area. In the past people could not do much about the mid-face region round the nose. Mid facelifts only started to develop around 10 years ago and it is only know that people start to realize the benefits offered.
Mid facelifts will focus on the region formed between the mouth and the 2 corners of your yes. Your surgeon will reposition the muscles and the fat under the skin. Work will be done on the deepest layers of the face and the result is a middle face area that looks younger and more natural. One extra benefit stands in relieve of flesh tension. The actual procedure will be performed wherever the doctor wants to and will last around one hour. This is a reason why a popular nickname for mid facelift is “lunchtime lift”.
Our face has three areas that can be lifted. The lower part is the jaw and neck and the upper part is formed by the eyelids and forehead. The region that is located between these limits form our mid face. If you have mid face that is sagging the immediate result is a drooping of your chin and mouth that will be more obvious. Most people will want to get a mid facelift done because this is a part of the face that is responsible for conveying emotion. A mid facelift procedure will pull your cheek fat on the bone, in the same place it was when you were younger. Thanks to this you will get a softer, happier and younger look. Your mouth’s corners will also be raised and you will no longer have a sad look all the time. You will be happy to know that a mid facelift procedure is very easy and there are a lot of professionals that you can hire to do the surgery.
Some doctors will use an endoscope in order to perform a mid facelift. We are basically talking about a fiberoptic lens that is very small and inserted in your temple and mouth through tiny incisions (in most cases the incision will b just half an inch). The endoscope is linked to one camera. The camera is connected to a monitor and this combination makes it possible for the surgeon to see the area that he operates on. You should know that the endoscope also has some tools attached, which are used from the outside of your face. Basically, the doctor will control the endoscope and see what he is doing by watching the television monitor attached. The problem is that the doctor has to be well prepared and know everything about your face’s anatomy while also being prepared for eventual complications. Fat bags near your eyes are sometimes removed and excess skin can be trimmed if needed, with the purpose of removing wrinkles and lines.
The effects felt after the surgery are similar with those of a regular facelift. You should expect to see bruising, inflammation, pain and swelling. The bruising and swelling will recover in around one week and you might be faced with itching while healing. It takes one week to remove the sutures and if the pain is too much the doctor can prescribe pain medication.
Keep in mind that the doctor is the only person that can tell you whether or not you are a good candidate for a mid facelift. You might be faced with a situation in which another procedure might give you better results. That is why you need to be honest and maintain a very good relationship with your doctor.
