Inside Lower Eyelid
Please fill the Details
Your eyes transmit messages of vitality, emotion and youthfulness. Unfortunately, as time passes by, your eyes may end up looking tired or sad, not because of real emotions, but due to sun damage to the skin and our natural aging process. As we age, our eyes seem to sag. If you combine this sagging problem with puffiness and bags, you will look a lot older than you actually are. People get eyelid surgery in order to gain back a part of the young-looking face that they had. But modern medicine has made it possible to correct these visible problems through surgery on your inside lower eyelid.
Puffiness and Bags
This surgery aims to improve the overall appearance of your eyes by altering just one specific spot. The surgeon will use a technique that will redistribute or remove fat deposits, which cause the sagging look. If needed, excess muscle and skin will also be removed.
Puffiness and eye bags, the most common cosmetic eyelid problems, are caused by orbital protruding fat deposits. The fat deposits are held in place by your orbital septum. Unfortunately, as you age, it weakens. Fat deposits slide, creating puffiness and bags. The inside lower eyelid surgery sculpts with the use of incisions in your conjunctiva to take away those extra orbital fat. In some cases, however, there might be a need to modify more than just the inside lower eyelid. Based on the decision of the doctor, more complex eyelid surgery techniques might be used to solve all the problems that you have.

About the Surgical Procedure
This surgery often lasts for an hour or two. Before the operation itself, the target area for the treatment will be cleaned. Local anesthesia is normally used for this type of procedure, but, in some situations, general anesthesia is utilized.
The doctor will use retractors in order to pull your lower eyelid from your eyeball. Since your conjunctiva will be exposed, a shield might be used to protect the eyelid from eventual damage. An incision is made on your conjunctiva with a special cautery device. As fat deposits are exposed, each will be clamped with hemostats. After the extra fat is removed, the puffiness and bags will be gone, too. Incision will be closed by sutures.
Recovery
You may notice swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Pain medication and cold compresses can be used in order to alleviate these natural effects of the procedure. Improvements will be noticed after about a week. You will be able to get back to work by then, but you need to avoid strenuous activities. Failure to do this might lead to complications.
An inside lower eyelid surgery may be merely for cosmetic purposes, but it is a delicate procedure. Make sure you choose the doctor you go to. We recommend that you contact only experienced physicians to avoid risks and that the best possible results can be obtained.
