Cosmetic Surgery Breast

If you plan on getting a cosmetic surgery on your breast, then you should definitely know more about the various important aspects. This type of surgery is often done in a hospital or outpatient surgery clinic. General anesthesia is often used and this means that you will be asleep the entire procedure (pain-free). You may also be given local anesthesia in order to block pain, numb the breast area, and help you relax since you will be awake during the procedure.
One of the most popular procedures these days is breast augmentation with the use of implants (saline or silicone).
There are different methods a surgeon can employ:
• In common surgeries, the cosmetic surgeon will make a surgical incision on the underside of a woman’s breast. The implant will be placed through this opening and your scar may be a bit more visible if you haven’t had children, are younger, and thin.
• Another way is for the surgeon to place the implant through a surgical cut made under your arm. This type of procedure is often done with the use of an endoscope and a lot of women prefer this particular incision because it doesn’t leave a scar on the breast.
• There are also times when the surgeon will make a cut around the edge of a woman’s areola, which is the darkened area around your nipple. The implant is inserted through this opening. With this method, you may have issues with breastfeeding and you may also experience a loss of sensation around the nipple area.
• There is a newer technique that entails a saline implant. The surgeon will make a cut near a woman’s belly button and with the use of an endoscope; the implant is moved towards the breast area. Once it is in place, your implant is then filled with saline.
Implants are placed sub-muscularly or sub-glandulary. Keep in mind that the method and type of implant used can affect certain aspects such as the amount of pain you will feel after the surgery, the result or appearance of your breasts, future mammograms, as well as the risk of leaking or breaking in the future.
Another popular cosmetic surgery breast procedure is known as a ‘breast lift’. This is done to lift loose, sagging breasts and to reduce the size of a woman’s areola. It does not involve implants and cannot dramatically change the size of your breasts.
As with any other type of cosmetic surgery, these two procedures involve some risks such as bleeding, infection, loss of sensation in the nipple area, uneven position of the nipples, different size and/or shape of breasts, breaking, leaking, and visible rippling of implants.
If you want to undergo a cosmetic surgery on your breast, be sure to talk to a skilled and board-certified cosmetic surgeon. Discuss your aesthetic goals and how you expect to feel after your desired surgical procedure. Many women who have gone through these types of breast surgeries say that both their appearance and self-confidence have improved.
