Mini Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty
Please fill the Details
A mini tummy tuck abdominoplasty is less invasive than a regular tummy tuck abdominoplasty. The difference between the two procedures is that the mini is done on a body that doesn’t have too much protruding abdominal muscle. It is done to address the loose, stretched skin and the excess fat in your lower abdominal area. You’ll only know which type of abdominoplasty would be advisable for you after you’ve been examined by a cosmetic doctor.

How It Is Done?
The doctor will start with the application of general anesthesia. There are other doctors who will perform local anesthesia with or without sedation, instead. This will depend on his recommendations after your initial consultation.
An incision will be done on your abdomen right above your pubic region. It will be an incision that’s much smaller than that of a regular tummy tuck. This is why the mini is also sometimes called a “scarless” tummy tuck. The doctor will proceed by removing the loose skin. He may also do a liposuction to remove excess fat. One big advantage of a mini tummy tuck abdominoplasty is that your navel won’t have to be repositioned, unlike in a regular abdominoplasty. The doctor will end the surgery with small sutures to close the incision. Small drains are generally used to prevent fluid buildup.
After the Surgery
This is an outpatient procedure that’s usually over in about a couple of hours. However, proper care and post-procedure instructions from the doctor should still be followed strictly. You should always wear a compression garment while your surgery wound is still healing for about 3 weeks, at the most. In about the same period of time, you can also return to work and to doing some light activities. Strenuous activities have to be avoided until after at least a month or so. These are just a general approximation, so it is a must to consult your doctor about his advice particularly regarding these matters.
You can expect some swelling, numbness, or discomfort in your abdomen, particularly the incision area. But any of these effects should only be temporary. Make sure you contact your doctor if these effects persist. Infection and blood clots, while a general risk in any surgery, are rare in mini tummy tucks.
A mini tummy tuck abdominoplasty is one of the modern body contouring options you have if you think you’ve got excess fat or loose skin that you want to get rid of from your lower abdomen. But remember that only the doctor can decide whether or not you are a good candidate for it. Discuss with your doctor your expectations, concerns, and medical history. Also, make sure that you listen to what your doctor will say about the surgery – from the benefits to the risks.
