Male Liposuction
Please fill the Details
Male liposuction isn’t as popular as liposuction for women. It’s attributed to the notion that there’s a much greater pressure on women regarding keeping a desirable figure, even after childbirth and aging. Since most men believe that having a cosmetic procedure is a feminine thing to do, they’d like to avoid being teased by their friends if they undergo liposuction or any other cosmetic procedure.
Male liposuction is also more expensive than women’s. Being more fibrous, male fat is more difficult and time-consuming to remove. Also, the areas usually needing the procedure in men are the fibrous body parts in both sexes – breasts/chest, love handles, and abdomen. Aside from this, men are naturally built as larger than women, thus, having more fat to remove. Male liposuction is usually done on the face and neck, flanks, and breasts/chest.
Facial Liposuction for Men
The jowls, neck and chin are among the common areas done with male liposuction. Male patients having this procedure generally would like to have slimmer faces to achieve an appearance that’s more youthful and more masculine. While women would want a facelift more than facial liposuction, most men prefer the opposite, mainly because the scars and other surgical marks brought about by a facelift seem unmanly. Again, the pressures of society become a factor.

Flanks or Love Handles
Male liposuction is an effective solution for male flanks or love handles, which are the bulges over the belt line. Mostly associated with beer drinking, aging, unhealthy diet, or low fitness level, male flanks tend to be exaggerated when a tight belt is worn.
Breasts or Chest
The breasts or chest, however, is probably the most popular area for male liposuction today. Gynecomastia is an abnormal male breast enlargement caused by an imbalance of hormones, which results to glandular tissues or fats accumulating in the breast area.
Before a doctor will proceed with liposuction on a man’s breasts or chest, he needs to determine first whether the excess tissue is glandular or fatty. If it is, he will proceed with the cosmetic procedure. If not, you might need to be examined more thoroughly. Unfortunately, asymmetry and other abnormalities in the appearance of a man’s breasts may be signs of having a tumor present. A mammogram will be used to detect tumors.
Reminders for Patients
Be sure to follow the given instruction and recommendations of the surgeon. Following their orders strictly will help you avoid any future problems and will make healing better and faster. Continue to talk to your doctor after the male liposuction procedure is done. Make sure he knows any relevant symptoms or suspicions of side effects that you may have.
